Progress Casting had reliability issues with their utility as various construction projects in their area had contributed to multiple power outages over the previous 12 months. The lack of reliable power was affecting their productivity and their bottom line. Aware of the benefits that onsite generation could provide, Progress Casting came to Energy Alternatives to design and manage their generator project. They decided to hire experts rather than tie up their personnel to manage a project of this type.
Working within a very short window of opportunity (less than 60 days), EA worked with their preferred vendors to procure equipment while ensuring their design met all utility and city requirements. Progress Castings has very sensitive equipment in their building so EA had to ensure a seamless transfer from utility to generator. EA also structured a financing package such that Progress Castings could pay for the generator out of their operating budget rather than their capital budget. EA even worked with the utility to maximize the rate savings to Progress Casting under the utility's Peak Control Rate Program.
Energy Alternatives used their design expertise, buying power, and knowledge of utility requirements to commission this project in less than 90 days. As a result, Progress Castings no longer needs to worry about the utility adversely affecting their production. They can continue to do what they do best – manufacture quality parts for their customers.
Progress Castings looked around for other suppliers and found that EA provided the most extensive array of services and overall best value.
"Our whole project was handled by Energy Alternatives. They did a very good job. I spent about three years doing a lot of research, and I highly recommend Energy Alternatives. All they do is generator installations."
